Petar ČulićFrom 18th till 23rd August, Omiš's second summer school of guitar took place in the premises of
primary music school Lovro pl. Matačić. The courses were held on a daily basis through both
individual and group work, and the participants were able to choose for themselves how much time
they would spend practising. Therefore, some of them had more than three lessons of practice a day.
The overall number of 14 participants included students from Petrovsko (Krapina), Makarska, Split,
Baška Voda, Krilo Jesenice, Dugi Rat, Duće and Omiš. Besides playing, the main extracurricular
activity was 'picigin', a very popular Dalmatian ball game played in the shallow sea. The final
concert
took place on the 23rd of August and its programme can be found in the text below. It also
featured the performance by the summer school's professor Petar Čulić himself.

Mate SpainThe regional guitar competition took place in Zadar on 13th and 14th March and it gathered more than a hundred talented guitar players from the region of Dalmatia – from Zadar to Dubrovnik. The participants were divided into seven age categories, from primary school children to students. Participants from Dugi Rat and Omis achieved outstanding results and won plenty of guitar awards. Petar Čulić achieved the best results and was the most successful professor at the competition: his students won two first prizes and three second prizes. I would like to express my praise of Mate Spain, young guitarist from Dugi Rat who was the absolute winner of the whole competition with the highest score in all 7 categories! Bravo to Mate, Marko, Daria, Ante, Iva! Bravo! ...
